After announcing an exit from the Indian market in the middle of 2021, Ford appears to have changed its mind and is now planning its global electric strategy from outside of India. The corporation is one of the 20 automakers, which also includes Maruti Suzuki's parent business in Japan.

 Ford intends to produce electric vehicles in one of its India facilities, most likely the Sanand factory in Gujarat, with the intention of exporting 100 percent of the output. In the 'Champion OEM' category for larger vehicles, Pinnacle Mobility Solutions, a joint venture between the local Pinnacle business and VDL Group, Netherlands (which specialises in buses and coaches), was also chosen.
