Mahindra, homegrown automaker unveiled the 'Born Electric Vehicle' platform

Last year, the homegrown automaker unveiled the 'Born Electric Vehicle' platform, and the dedicated EV architecture will be critical to the company's future chances in the electric vehicle market. While details on the three eSUVs that will be born as part of the company's ambitious initiative are still scant, the leaked teaser video provides us a hint of what to expect in terms of aesthetics from the cars. They are, of course, the creation of Pratap Bose, who joined Mahindra as Executive Vice President and Chief Design Officer in June of last year.

The three electric SUVs that will be unveiled later this year are expected to have aggressive front- and rear-end style, as well as extensive use of LED lighting fixtures. The entire style package will most likely be a development of what we see on the XUV700, which means the vehicles will have sharply carved surfaces as well as an aggressive stance. There is a significant probability that the new EV lineup will include a compact SUV, a mid-size SUV, and an SUV-coupe crossover. These are very certainly cars based on the XUV300, XUV700, and XUV Aero concepts that were revealed a few years ago. These vehicles were created by Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE), the carmaker's design centre in the West Midlands.

The arrival of the new-generation EVs could provide a boost to the Indian automaker, which pioneered the Indian EV industry with eVerito and Maini-based vehicles. However, Mahindra was thereafter seen ceding the lead to Tata Motors after the latter introduced Nexon- and Tigor-based options. However, Mahindra may soon boost the ante with a lineup of electric SUVs that will take on the competition head on.
